Seven Is A Lucky Number ... And So Are These Seven Lessons Of Effective Leadership

Several years ago I struck up a conversation on the C-Train and the individual upon finding out what I did for a living, asked me 'What is the one piece of advice you would give to a new leader?' I replied 'Don’t be a jerk!' And whilst I stick by that piece of advice, I later crylalized my thoughts and created the Vision EXCITE leadership model I have gone on to use this model with clients from a mulitude of different organizations.

More recently I discussed the model on Facebook Live with my colleagues Kari & Carolyn from Equine Connection, check it out here

1. Vision

Do you have a clear vision of what you want?

Do you know where you want to go both personally and professionally?

2. Energize

Do you have the resilience to keep going when the going gets tough?

Do you energize and raise the spirits of those around you?

3. X Factor

That secret sauce that makes you authentic, be who you are, don't try a copy anyone else.

Remember people are always watching what you do and don’t do, so make sure you are showing your best self

4. Challenge

Do you challenge people to give of their very best, perhaps more than they think they can do?

Do you challenge people who aren’t performing to standard and raise them up back to an acceptable level?

I hope you're finding this blog useful. As you continue your leadership journey, don't forget that here at Bluegem Learning we are always here to assist you.

5. Inspire

Do you articulate your vision in a way that inspires others to come on board?

Do you maintain that inspiration when times are tough?

6. Trust

Do you behave in manner that people can trust you?

Are you a person of your word, who people will follow even out of curiosity? Watch Colin Powell and learn why 'Trust' is such an important leadership trait

Do you trust your people to do a good job? Trust people unless they give you reason not to. Remember, people live up or down to expectations you set for them.

7. Equip

Do you train and develop people to their full potential so they can achieve great things?
